Hurrah!

Finally--after 2 weeks of snow on the ground--they plowed our road! Of course it has been raining for a few days now and the snow was leaving soon anyways. But at least I can drive down the road without spinning my tires. And it doesn't take me 10 minutes to go past 4 houses!

Never said what I did on Christmas Eve...

I really think that attmepting to drive in the snow is quite challenging. (As long as I don't need to be anywhere) So--I went to town and decided to just cut my hair off! It was down to my waist---bangs trying to grow(only to my mouth so far). It wouldn't curl--too straight and thick. So--I got it layered. She cut about 8 inches off. I can still touch it from the back, but I kind of miss it. I do like the layered look when I don't have it pulled up. I left my bangs--I've worked so hard to getting those long. I should had taken before and after picutres--but it was an impulsive, spontaneous thing.

Dec 26th, 2008

Today is the day of the "big" rain. Temps are suppose to rise to 40's and this all goes away. David was going to take the kids to see "Bedtime Stories" and I was going to have the house to myself. Well---since we live in a big county where "other" cities/towns are more important, no one had taken care of any of the roads(except farmers with tractors and maybe some "Stanwood" road crews?) David tried to get to the movies and he got stuck 6 times. So he came home.

We have been in a "Flood Watch" since 12:00pm. But once again---the weatherman forgets about us in north county and it has been SNOWING for a couple of hours now. Heavy snow, windy, not raining!! Once again--another day in the house.

I'm doing laundry, packing for Anna to get ready to go to KC to visit Grandma/grandpa Melugin with David. She has never been on an airplane. I'm sure she'll have a blast!

Will it ever end??

I like snow. It's very beautiful when all the green is covered in white. Especially when the sun shines through the trees and makes the snow sparkle. The dogs love it. The kids love it. You'd think it was the best thing in the world! Snow at Christmas time. Sledding down big hills or through our trees--trying to not get killed....
Yeh--right!
You can't get out of the driveway without chains. And by some chance you do get out without chains--you slide everywhere because of the 6 inches of ice that is under the snow on your unmaintainenced, in the middle of no-where neighborhood. I really think the couple of feet we got is enough. It was great the first day or 2, but nearly every single night--more snow. Not just a dusting, but 6" here, 6" there.....
Even if the sun had melted alittle bit of it--it made up for it during the night.
More is to come tonight also. Only another 2-5". Not too bad. But.....it's all going to start leaving tomorrow!! The temperatures are going up and then we get the soggy, dirty, slushy, ugly, wet ground. Mud will be everywhere. The dogs and kids will not be tracking in snow anymore, but mud!
Hard to believe that winter just started 2 days ago.

YES--that is my son in the pink! It's all we have to keep him warm.....

Bigger Storm!

Now we have even a bigger storm then the last. So far--I measured about 11" of snow--this afternoon. But the neighbor went into her backyard and it was over her knees. So I'm thinking we got over 12-15".
No school today and no school tomorrow. Kids are having fun. They've been outside all day. We don't even have snowsuits! And Anna's been wearing her nice, dress shoes.

We are in the middle of making an igloo/fort. Hopefully we will be done tomorrow....

The "Big" Storm...

Well--the snow is done for now. We got about 4-6 inches, maybe? I was privedged enough to be able to drive in it! I had to work last night and the 20 minute drive took 1 hour, 20 minutes. 20min to get to I-5. And 1 hour to go 11 miles on I-5--at 25 mph. Of course many accidents and not being able to move at all at times.
Not a good combo for me--who has a big, heavy van, rear-wheel drive, and very bald tires. Doesn't help to know that David was in St Louis and the kids were home alone.

Going home, it only took 45 min. Some of the snow has melted today. It got up to 34 degrees here. I did miss all their fun playing in it--while I was sleeping.

Sarah's Birthday

For the child who doesn't want anything for her birthday....

She got Jane Austins Complete Novels from her friend--Holly. Shakepeares Complete Writings---from us. And from Rachel--made her a little bag and gave her lounge pants and slipper socks.

Then I surprised her by taking her to the hair place to get her hair dyed. She's been nagging me for a while. She doesn't like her "natural" blonde streaks and wanted it darker. So....here are before and after pictures: Actually--the after pictures came first.

December

It's December already. Sarah's b-day is tomorrow. I can't beleive she will be 14y already. She doesn't "look" 14 to me, but other people think she looks about 16-18y old. Not good!! Where does time go? What happened to my precious little baby?
She is growing up way too fast. She's already planning to move out as soon as possible. And of course--she says she's never having children!! (do you blame her, being the oldest out of these crazy kids?????)

She doesn't want any presents for her birthday and no attention upon her. I'll have to think of something good to do to her!!!
