Our First Baseball Incident!

Photobucket
I know it would happen someday! Jacob got hit with the baseball last night at practice. This picture is from today---about 17 hours later.

He definitely did not want to play in the game today. He was afraid that it would get hit again, since it is so swollen. I hope he doesn't get afraid of the ball. He was not afraid of the ball ---at all---before this. He would try to get the ball---no matter what. He plans on playing in Weds game.

My Baby!!

I knew it would happen some day! My baby Anna has lost her first tooth! (she'll be 7y in 4 mo)We will never have another "first" tooth to be lost again. "sigh". The Tooth Fairy came and she got $1.00. I hope this doesn't start a trend of losing teeth. The tooth fairy has had a nice break for awhile. Jacob seems to start wiggling teeth until they come out so he can get money! Rachel still has some teeth to go also---but the tooth fairy doesn't need her big teeth anymore.....

Some Unexpected News

We had some unexpected news come our way on Saturday. We got a phone call from David's mom in Missouri. His dad fell (they say 30 feet) from a tree and broke his back. He was cutting branches in Bennett Springs, MO. He was taken to Springfield and is still there. They didn't do surgery and he will get a back brace. Thankfully, the spinal cord is intact.
David is leaving early tomorrow morning to go to Omaha, again. He will drive to KC and help his family out. His dad should be home from Springfield by then. He will then fly to San Antonio, TX for another job. The next weekend he will go back to KC to see his family. Then...once again, back to Omaha and then hopefully come home. So we probably won't see him for about 3 weeks. Please pray for David's family that his dad will heal quickly. And for me--home again with the kids, alone!

Another Week Has Past!

David's been gone to CA this week. He should be landed by now at Seatac. Once again--a busy week and weekend. The weather was beautiful! I worked outside the whole weekend transplanting tress and bushes, buying more plants and planting them. I'm also making a cement border around my trees. Hard work. But I love it. The kids wished they had the pool up, but too early for that yet. They were satisfied with water balloons and the sprinkler under the trampoline.
After last week's follow up appt with the Dr for my toe--I got referred to a foot specialist. We were wondering why my toe won't bend. Had that appt yesterday. The break itself looks good and healing fine for 3 weeks. The trouble is that the tendon that allows you to curl your big toe under ripped away from the bone. The other tendon is intact. But....the tendon that is there will be pulling my toe up. I have no working tendon pulling it down. So for now, I have to tape my toe down so it doesn't bend. I also have a very "attractive" hard boot I have to wear. I still have pain---but s-l-o-w-l-y getting better. This is all better than surgery, in which the Dr was against. He said it was a really bad surgery to do and long recovery. I don't have time for that! The other option was to fuse that joint. But that would be down the road a few years if I still have problems.
Never a boring day around here!

It's Been 1 Week Already!

I can't believe that it's been a week since I've been on here. Time goes by faster and faster the older you get. David's been home this week and left this morning for Oregon. He's driving back tonight and leaving early tomorrow morning for San Fran, CA. He will miss our beautiful weather this week and will not be home until next Weds. All the kids are in school today and after I drop off Anna, I will be heading off to Walmart and hopefully getting back before morning ends.
It's one of those Thursdays again, but even busier. Rachel has 4-H at the same time that Jacob has baseball pictures and practice and the science fair. Sarah has youth group. Tomorrow--Rachel is going to try to spend the night at her friend's church and go to Prince Caspien on Sat. morning. Sarah is spending the night at her school with the other 7th grade girls. Then I'll pick her up early and take Jacob, Anna and her to Prince Caspien with our church group. Everyone is excited waiting for this to come out. All they've been watching is Narnia for the past couple of weeks. We finally bought the books and Sarah read Prince Caspien in about 2 days. Rachel is attempting to read The Magicians Nephew. She doing OK with it. Over Jacob's reading level. He's into the Magic Tree House books. Need to go and drop Anna off at school and start my busy day!

The day is over!

Well, I made it! The kids made it--but not in bed yet. I went to the Mother's day tea. It was great! I first picked Rachel up at school early, then headed over to the school. Rachel helped out the resource teacher while I was at the tea. When school was out, I took them to the book fair in the library. Which of course caused a mini-meltdown. Jacob thought he needed a 3-pack of Indiana Jones Books. Not even the new book. So I drive them home to get the dog ready to go. Major meltdown in the van--kicking seats and windows. He was thirsty and needed something to drink NOW. And of course it had to be cold. I didn't get him anything until home. Then we loaded everyone back up in the van after being home for 10 min. Jacob dressed for baseball and Rachel ready for 4-H. We picked up Sarah from track and headed out to the Island. Dropped Rachel off and went to Jacob's game. Dropped him off---yes by himself and took Sarah home. Then back to the game. 30 min later---leave Jacob and go back to the Island to pick Rachel up. Back to the game for another 30 min and then home. Sarah decided not to go to Youth Group. We got home about 7:30p and time for dinner---which consisted of Organic poptarts from Costco and Costco cake from David's birthday last Sunday.
The game--I glad I didn't miss Jacob hitting the ball--if he actually hits it. The first game he did great--hits way out there. Then---all other times--he can't hit it at all. Today--he would swing too early. Then, after some coaching from one of the dads--he swings--hard and there it went!! Flying through the air towards the "coach--pitcher". Not the ball-----the BAT!!!! Luckily no one was injured. I wish I had my video camera! The next hit---he hit it again very hard and it almost made it to the fence--left side, but was a foul.
The day is finally over. Only 2 more kids to get to bed. Oh yeh--I sold a bunk bed on Craigslist today and made $320.

Busy Thursdays

Thursdays I think are my most busy days. Even though all 4 kids are in school today, I find that the day goes by really too fast. Today I have a Mother's Day Tea with Anna in her Kindergarten class. After school, we start our rushing around. School's out for Rachel at 2:20p. Then Jacob and Anna at 3:30p. Of course I pick them up and drive them home. On days I pick up Anna, I pick up Jacob also. He hates that long bus ride.
After dropping them off at home, I pick up Sarah at 4:15p after track practice. Then, somehow, I need to get Rachel out on Camano Island (20 min away) with Scooter(the dog), for 4-H by 5pm. Jacob has a baseball game here in town at 5pm also! Rachel's done at 6:15 to 6:30p. Sarah needs to get to youth group by 6:30p. Jacob's not done until 7:30p---he also doesn't want me to leave him there alone (which is never a good idea anyways!) After all that--who's going to babysit Anna? I guess she comes with me today. I'm not quite sure how I'm going to do all this. Did I mention that David is in Texas this week?

Will Spring Ever Come?

The downside to living in WA state is you never know when the seasons are here. We got snowed out for Jacob's first baseball game in April. Who would have ever thought something like that would happen? Now---we just had a pleasant weekend with temps in the low 60's. Guess what--more clouds and rain coming. I assume that's why we are called the Evergreen state?
David has left town again to go to nice, warm 90 degree Texas. He always seems to leave when the weather is yucky here.
Went to the Dr today for my toe. It's getting better--at least the way it looks. But it is extremely painful when a dog steps on it or a child runs into it! Ouch! I go back to the Dr in 10 days for another x-ray. She did say that it will take 6-8 weeks to heal. WHAT??? I certainly don't have time to wait that long......I guess I shouldn't have mowed or pushed the wheelbarrel up the hill last night.
Mondays are one of our busy nights. Rachel and I have dog obiedence class. Sarah gets to stay home and help Anna with her AWANA drive in moving night, cardboard box car. I guess I should be looking for that big box.
