Had Conferences

We had conferences this past week. It went good, except for Jacob's. His behavior is really getting in the way of things.(potty talk, pretending to pee on things, etc)All for attention. He needs small groups and they are taking away his resource room for reading(they had already moved him to regular class for that within the first month). But now they have to remove it from his IEP. He still has math there--but really doesn't "qualify". Writing and social skills (which he definitely needs!!) Academicly---he never did qualify for resource, except for the needs of social skills. They can't challenge him there. He is right on grade level.

They are going to do a behavioral plan for his current behavior problem and try to get him in a very small 2 to 1 group for math. (there is a 4th grader who is alittle behind)

I wish he could just be in small groups all day. He probably wouldn't have any of the behavior problems. He is much better and gets his work done.

They also said his attention is not very good. She doesn't know if it's from his ability to not process info fast enough--so he's already lost before she is finished explaining things. Or if his mind is already gone thinking about Legos, Star Wars, and whatever is "stuck" in his head that day (last week it was going to Legoland for his B-day---What???) This weekend--it's asking me every few minutes if we can be on "Opportunity Knocks" game show, so we can win alot of money so he can buy thousands of "Clones"(Lego). Or "Deal or No Deal". I learned "Patience" a long time ago......

He is already maxed out on his ADHD meds. So I don't know what we are going to do next...

Laundry Continues...................

Today is Tuesday and the laundry is still going. I have 5 garbage bags left to do. I know I should have just went to the laundry mat, but I decided not to. I hope the washer/dryer don't go out. (or the hot water tank!!)

I need to comb Anna's hair again, but tonight she has AWANAS. I haven't nit combed it since Sunday. At school they check her when we first get there. She still has nits, but they are dead. I plan on treating her again tomorrow. But this time I'm using Listerine and Vinegar instead of poison! The listerine kills them if there are any left and the vinegar loosens the glue so the nits come off. We are also using Tea Tree oil in shampoo. Right now, David actually has some Tea Tree shampoo and conditioner we're using. Lice do not like the smell of tea tree oil.

I knew there was another reason why one should homeschool!!!!

Can it get any worse?????????

What is the ONE prayer that you pray everyday about when your kids attend a school? My very worst fear--actually a phobia has arisen itself!!

LICE

Yes--LICE!!!

I can handle fleas, but not lice! Poor Anna. She is the worst kid to have to get it. Her hair isn't very long (for some reason it just doesn't grow fast), but it's thick. Thicker than any of us. And....CURLY in the back. I'm not talking wavy---she has the curl that is so curly--it's frizzy.

So, I bought the treatment--nasty chemicals that are toxic to everyone and just did it. Then I attempted to comb out her hair---1/2" at a time. It only took 6 1/2 hours!
That was on Saturday.

Sunday--no church--of course! I put Olive Oil on Anna's head and then saran wrap with a shower cap. Took Rachel and Jacob to get their hair cut and "checked". They were clean!! Praise God! But guess who wasn't----ME. I'm not surprised. She crawled into my bed a few nights before all of this. At least I only had a few nits. (I did treat myself on Sat. night--just in case).

Got home and rinsed Anna's hair. 3 hours with olive oil and that should have taken care of the one's we missed. Only 3 1/2 hours of combing that time. At 7:oopm---I went to the hair place(after hours) and my beautician secretly did my hair for me. It only took her a total of 1 1/2 hours. I left the poison on my head for 20 min instead of the 10 and we even used the dryer some.

So what am I doing this week? Laundry. Not only do I wash Anna's bedding, but the whole house!!

Horrifying Day!

Got home at 9:30am from dropping the kids off at school. Rachel stayed home today because she needed to see Dr Ann, our psych. I have appts with her the first Thursday of every month to talk about whichever kid I needed to. I got Rachel up and we were out the door by 10:00am. As the neighbor left her house to walk her dog, we backed out of the driveway. We saw a dead cat down the road. Rachel jumped out of the van and ran to the animal along with the neighbor. I pulled behind them in the van. It was who we thought it was---"Leo". The only cat in the whole world that every single person on our road loved! Friendly, outgoing, NO FEAR--of anything. The cat would jump into everyone's cars when they would open the door. Or into your house when the door opened. Great cat!

The worst thing for anyone is to find the cat, in a pool of blood with the head smashed. Especially hard on Rachel---who considered this cat--"hers". She's been crying on/off all day. Cried at the psych's and can't go to sleep tonight. I'm sure the image is fresh in her mind of that cat on the road.

Sarah's ankle update

Her ankle has finally gotten bruised now. It does hurt her and she DOES wear her blue boot to school. Today when I was there to get Rachel, she even asked me for some ibuprofen. Tonight she went to bed at 6:45pm.

Lemonade Diet.....

I'm trying a new thing starting tomorrow....it's called the "Lemonade Diet". It's really not a "diet" in the sense of the word. It is actually a total body detox. I'm going to TRY to do the minimum amount of 10 days. Some people do it for 40.
It's suppose to rid your body of all toxins that have built up over the years. It give you more energy, heals cells, and even can cure allergies.

Of course--you have to go through the detox phase (those first few days). I may get headaches(my diet coke withdrawl), irritability, cramping, bloating, vomiting, raw throat and tongue, may develop sores in mouth, even old injuries aching (my previous sprained ankles, broken toe, etc......) as the healthy cells are trying to heal my body. Of course for all this detox to happen----you spend alot of time in the bathroom....

I plan on really starting this tomorrow. Right now--I'm drinking my first cup of organic, herbal, laxative tea. In the morning--I get to drink 1 quart of salt water! YUM!!! Then nothing but my lemonade mixture-----fresh squeezed lemons, pure maple syrup, cayenne pepper and spring water. About 10 glasses a day! For 10 days.
So far the tea tastes like nothing. No wonder why I hate tea so much.
I will try to write something everyday on my progress...

NOT AGAIN!!

While I was at Anna's soccer game today, Sarah decided to do it again! But this time I'm sure it's not broken!

I didn't take her in this time. Her and her friend went for a walk and I guess she twisted it---somehow! It is the same ankle as before. She refuses to take crutched to school on Monday. She won't even wear her blue boot. So, I ACE wrapped it and by tonight---she is walking on it. But she does look in pain. And that's after taking Ibuprofen...I have never known anyone to be such a klutz! She even fell down the stairs at her friends house last night--only bruises that time.

Anna's Soccer

Anna just finished her soccer season today. She loved it! I finally took pictures at the game. She was considered the "highest" kicker. She would kick it far and way over the goal net, and everyones heads! After todays game they had their little trophy thing at McDonalds. Their coach made them "soccer" pillows too.

Halloween

I hate Halloween. The kids had fun though. Too much candy, like always. Sarah went to her friends house from 6-10p. They watched some shows and ate candy and Pepsi. (I'm anti-Pepsi--Diet Coke only in our house!) I took Rachel and her friend, Jacob and Anna, treat or treating in a subdivision in town. They all ended up with about half of a pillowcase full. When we got home, our neighbor hadn't gone yet and Anna and Rachel went with them just around our area. They were gone only about 30 min and came back with more than we got from in town!!! Next year we are staying home and going around our block (1/2 mile). The thing about around here---no street lights, very dark, and the driveways are soooo long and creepy by the lake. I didn't even take pictures of the kids!! I did take one pciture each when we got the costumes though.

If you can't tell what they are: Anna is Minnie Mouse and Jacob is of course---"Jango Fett" from Star Wars!

Dog 4-H

Here are some pictures of Rachel at the 4-H Halloween costume party. Lots of kids and dogs! I made 72 cupcakes and was in charge of the "Cake Walk".

Rachel took alot of pictures, but they ended up blurry. Rachel is a farmer and Scooter is a cow. All the kids at 4-H had a fun time!
